hello guys i finally bought new pc :D. here's what i got:

asus 8800gt
gigabyte p35-ds3r mobo, lga 775
intel c2d e6550, lga 775, 2,33ghz, 4 mb L2 cache, 1333mhz FSB
2x 1gb OCZ Platinum ddr 2, 800mhz
OCZ StealthXStream 500W psu, atx v.2

here's the problem:

i have old ata133 maxtor hdd (40gb)and i want connect it to the mobo, but there is only one IDE slot on the mobo and that one is used of optical device /nec dvd rw/. I was wondering could i connect those two devicecs on one IDE slot using normal ide cabel (with master and slave ports). I would put hdd as master boot device and optical device as slave/second/. Is that possible. Here's the quick sketch

thanks for your help :)

Yes, that will work. An IDE port is designed to accept up to two devices. As long as the jumpers are set correctly (and the cable is functioning!) you should have no problem.
