well if money is not an issue go with the LG BH100 that plays both formats, if not get a PS3 as a Blu-Ray player. Unless most of your favorite movies are on the HD-DVD format

Both formats are virtually identical in terms of quality (with each having their own pros/cons). Go for the format that has the most movies you like on it ... best way to go.

BlueRay and HD-DVD have the same picture quality, but BDs have better sound, so I'd say BlueRay.

Both. Be a fan of movies, not formats. Each format has their own strengths. Also, I'd have an easier time recommending something for you depending upon what TV and receiver you have and if you'll be upgrading soon.

I guess it comes down to what movies you want in HD but if that could be looked pass right now HD-DVD offers better picture quality and more and better/ added content features....

Blu-Ray is technically superior and has superior support in every way that counts, buying HD-DVD at this point is extremely ill-advised as I see it. Just checkout the recent Nielsen VIdeoscan numbers and the eProductWars website to see how well HD-DVD is doing..

The only time HD-DVD has beat Blu-Ray since march was when there was a simultaneous buy-a-thon at the AVS forums for HD-DVD..and it didn't beat it by a lot then.
