Ive heard mixed things about using HDTVs as a computer monitor. I have a great gaming pc and want to get the most out of it by having a huge display to play on (around 42inch). I want to get a 1080p display, and I have a budget of up to 1,500$. What im concerned about is response time and whether the colors will be ok. Anyone have any suggestions for a good tv? I also want to hook up a few consoles to it as well.

I was constantly told monitor>HDTV. I still hooked my pc up to my 40" samsung 1080p tv though.

I love it. Games look stunning at 1080p on the big screen. Colours are fine too. I did only have a cheap 17" 1280x1024 monitor before this though.

My tv has a vga connector at the back so i didn't even have to buy a hdmi/dvi cable. It supports lots of PC resolutions and even dropping bellow 1080 it keeps the image quality pretty good. Not like i do drop below that though, i think only one game i own does not support 1080p and thats one of the kids games, viva pinata.

I say go for it, i love my PC+HDTV.

thank you for the input frozzik! As long as the image quality holds up somewhat decently, and the response time is good thats all i care about. I know there are several ways to connect a pc and HDTV, (S-video, VGA, DVI). I wonder which is the best quality though. I would think DVI, (my vidcard has 2), but im not really sure. Anyone know anything about this?
