I just added an Xbox 360 to finish off my next-gen collection and I'm looking to buy a new TV. At first i was fighting between LCD and Plasma. I kind of ruled out plasma (unless anyone says otherwise) and now I came across DLP and projectors with screens. Does anyone use these alternatives? I'd love some input! Thanks!

What's your price range? What is the viewing environment? There are a lot of factors for picking a new TV, so make with with details and someone will make with the help.

Also, prepare to be inundated with plasma chatter. BTW I like plasmas.....for the most part.

Why in God's name would you rule out plasmas and select inferior DLPS, and projectors?

Oh let me guess, the mythical "burn-In" issue.

Let's not jump to conclusions here, he may want a larger screen over other features and if that is the case plasma would be inferior.

She** lol I'm a girl. Well as I was researching, plasmas seem more expensive to the LCD. But I did state if you could prove me otherwise I'd consider it again. I pretty much have a square shaped room with my gaming on the front wall and seating on the back wall. Pretty large walls too so a 60" TV would fit. I'm on a tight budget. Full time student / work. I don't think I'll go beyond $1,500. So whatever you could recommend with that!

Plasmas are cheaper then LCDs

A 42 panasonic plasma ( highly rated on CNET) is only $699 in stores like FRYs, and others.

If you decide to get a projection TV, take a look at this one. A relative of mine has the 50'' version and I gotta say, BF:Bad Company looked REALLY damn good on that TV. Theres also this nice Panasonic Plasma over at bestbuy.com. 50'', 720p, seems good for its price. If you want 1080p, theres a 42'' version for about 100 bucks more. Both also come with a free massage chair (Though you shouldn't let that be a major factor in choosing the TV). For an LCD, I'd take a look at this LG 42'' 720p or this Sharp 46'' 1080p. (Not their Aquos line)
