I've tried finding the answer to this online but didn't have any luck. I purchased the above TV. According to the specs of the TV, it will display 720P and 1080I signals. When i setup my PS3 connection though it is pumping out a 1080P signal. I know you can change the output signal to one of the other standards. I just find it strange that the TV will accept the 1080P signal and will show you that the connection is 1080P. I would expect it to downscale the signal and then show that the signal is 720P or 1080I.
would i be correct in assuming that the TV is accepting the 1080P signal but is downscaling the image? and that it's just not showing that the signal is downgraded?
Alot of TV's show you what type of signal it is receiving. Even if you receive OTA or through cable at 1920x1080i it will still show that as being the signal it receives but downscales it to match your TV's native resolution, also it will upscale 720p to 768p to match the panels native resolution..
