That has to be one of the most vague inquiries I've seen for a recommended set of headphones :?

In any case, yes there are many headphones out there that will sound better than what you have. Unless of course, you're a basshead, in which case the XB500 is hard to beat (only one that comes to mind are the ATH-M50, but that's because the bass is cleaner).

Pretty much what you've said. Too vague, no limit on budget. Someone could just recommend an ultra-high-end Stax SR-009 + Blue Hawaii SE or Sennheiser Orpheus HE90 + HEV90 system and leave it at that... If anyone has the money to spend on this sort of headphone setup, though, I'd definitely advise them to at least consider electrostatics (usually Stax; it's their bread and butter, and not many other brands have even offered models with such drivers, let alone continue to produce them) if they want detail and something resembling "clear sound" that flows into your ears more than it's pushed in.

Takea look at the Headphone FAQ at the top of this forum, which may also be helpful as you decide which option makes the most sense for you.

Good luck!
