(from what I've seen at least) I could honestly live without that game I think HR is a step backwards. It looks like its really taking the physical action and interaction out of the game infavour of quick time events.
When you're trying to dodge someone in a game I want to be able to make the choice of when to move, not have something tell me when to move. From what I have seen it will lack immersion.
There are also a couple of deficiencies/contrivances I noticed in the narrative from the videos:
Why does the black guy go to the trouble of putting you in a car to be crushed when he could just dump you in an acid pit? This is after he makes you walk at gunpoint to a location. Why are they getting the player to gussy up by putting makeup on and shortening the skirt as well to attract the attention of the club owner? Thats like something from True Lies. I thought that was pretty sleazy.
Thats just my opinion. Hopefully I am wrong and it will turn out to be a terrific game.

sony hates PC. sony games never come to PC. In other words sony is PC killer.Sony is mother****** and sony is A******.should i use more words why Heavy Rain not coming for PCbadtakeryes they do hate the PC...they actually thought the PS3 would replace peoples PCs in the home at launch time. however you do realise that sony actually make more games for the PC than MS do...they have quite a large division that specialises in MMOs called SOE. sony first party are actually releasing an mmo to work with PS3 and the PC for example called the agent. sony also have PC exclusive games that they continue to support like everquest and have released (or are releasing) a free to play MMO (though i hear that its not brilliant). sony, despite wanting the PC to be dead and buried, actually do more good for PC gaming than MS....i find that very funny. i dont think we will see heavy rain....but i think we have a better chance of seeing it than, say, fable 3.

I remember an article where the developer (Quantic Dream) said that they didn't like making PC games because of having to code for alll the different possible hardware configs in peoples PCs. They had a bad experience with Indigo Prophacy apparently. I doubt it will come to PC. Most PS3 exclusives don't touch PC. Luckily my room mate and I bought a PS3 last nght so I am covered.

I actually respect them for it. At least their not Microsoft who will say Game X will be 360 exclusive and then 3 months later port it over to PC.

MSs support for PC gaming is absolutely pathetic. thankfully the PC doesent needs MS to do its gaming thing....if it was a console then it would be a dead platform. sony are making 2 expansion packs for everquest 1 and 2, are making the agency and have a free to play MMO in the works. this is despite sony wanting PC gaming dead and having the PS3 to worry about also. its not like sony have any reason to support PC gaming..they have no vested interest in windows. and yet there doing more for PC gaming than MS. over the last few years and into the future... it looks like sony will release more PC games this gen than MS.

Quantic Dream's games are all about story and experience, not so much gameplay. Think of them as highly interactive movies.
please mention games made by sony may be only one (no mmorg) badtaker1.free realms. 2.everquest 3. legens of norrath 4.pox nora 5. star wars galaxies 6. pirates of the burning sea 7. planetside 8. btw i did ignore (no mmorpg) because ignoring a genre just because someone doesn't want it used as evidence that they're wrong is fairly stupid. The extreme of which would be "prove microsoft makes games without mentioning any of the games they make"
I thought I heard rumours about it coming to PC at some stage. But maybe not. I don't think there is no chance, but it's slimnutcrackr
It was originally going to be multiplat, but then Sony bought the publishing rights. It'll stay exclusive - although I really can't say that I mind, since Fahrenheit was a disappointing mess.

These are all mmorg. I don't expect new exclusive (GOW3,U2) to come to PC because sony will be hoping for increase in PS3 sales. can you see that GOW1 and GOW2 Uncharted and killzone1 coming for PC.These are Old games yet they will not come to PC.halo and gears of war1 was ported to PC after sometime. sony===hates PC.Probably not. This is a game that Sony hopes will help with PS3 sales. Although, the price cut and Slim seem like they'd help enough.

sony=/=hates PC. fixed. And when MS ported halo and GeOW MS went all b!tchy and said OMG TEH PIRACY, (well Epic did) and aren't bringing them back to the PC. And no Sony won't bring they're old exclusives to PC because they're still exclusives. Agreed.I have PS3 so i don't care but it looks more like PC game buddy.[QUOTE="gameguy6700"] Quantic Dream's games are all about story and experience, not so much gameplay. Think of them as highly interactive movies.biggest_loserSo now we're playing games without any actual game play? Is that what you're suggesting? Max Payne is like an interactive movie. But at least that gives you control and things to do! From all the videos of HR you have the freedom of walking. But every other action is a quick time event. Why are people in awe of this?
Why are you talking like this is some kind of new trend? There have been games with minimal, if any, interaction for decades now. The visual novel genre is quite big in Japan and a few of those have even managed to make it over to the US (such as the Ace Attorny series). Quantic Dream's games are basically like that, except they're like interactive films instead of interactive books.
What I'm saying is that if you want this to be an action game you're approaching it from the wrong perspective. Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain are not meant to be like Max Payne. Back in Indigo Prophecy the producer of the game even told you right at the start that it was meant to be more like a movie than a game. Video games don't have to give you full control to be enjoyable. There are many ways to go about making an enjoyable game, and that's what makes this hobby so great is that you're not limited to just one way to enjoy the medium. If you don't like Heavy Rain you don't have to buy it. For the record, Indigo Prophecy wasn't exactly a hot seller either. QD is a niche developer, their games aren't supposed to appeal to a mass audience (which is why it's weird that they allowed HR to be a PS3 exclusive. They're shooting themselves in the foot by doing that).

Sigh.
Its attitudes like this that are part of the reason games like Grim Fandango,Broken Sword and the Monkey Island games are no longer made.
I think Heavy Rain looks to be a refreshing change from the norm, yes alot of the action is done for you,but if the script and the acting are good enough then this won't really matter.
The frist half of Indigo Prophecy/Farenheight was highly immersive and enjoyable imo.
Its not like every game is going to play like this.Just give it achance..

Excuse me, but my attitude towards Heavy Rain has nothing to do with adventure games like Grim Fandango not being made anymore. Point and click adventures are highly interactive. They require incredible amounts of thinking and experimentation.
What if Heavy Rain was just a series of cutscenes? No game play. All story.
At this stage it might as well be.
At least Farenheight had an immersive quality in its controls, when you were interacting with objects.

I think you've missed my point in talking about Max Payne. What I meant was that Max Payne has cinematic-like aesthetics. Yet at the same time it provides extremely solid game play.
Why not just make a movie then? According to you you don't have to have full control, so why not just have a series of cutscenes? I must be out of touch, because I always thought it was the very nature of a game - interacting with your character - that was the whole point, what separates it from a movie.
I know I don't have to buy it, but I'm still entitled to my opinion.
Its funny, they're a niche developer and yet they're putting so much effort into the visuals.
I really think people are being conned by this game and I think they're going to get a rude shock when the game play is only made up of pressing a single button.
This is not the same as Farenheight - that game had a great sense of immersion in the way you interacted with objects. There was still a game in there, the way you had to move the mouse around to say wipe up some blood or something.
Having a game tell you when to do something continuously through onscreen indicators and then do it through the single press of a button, that my friends is being "dumbed down" - as much as I hate that phrase - and game play simplifed to the nth degree.

Like I said give it a chance and wait for its release or at least a couple of in-depth previews before passing judgment.

I said in my original posts 'from what I have seen in the videos'... Do you really want me to write it in every post?Well, he dumps you inside a crusher simply because he doesn't have an acid bath currently in stock-in a car junk yard.So it's plain logic why he does that. Also, it lends better to story telling in this case.
