I have just been reading a review from PC Gamer (UK) and it got 73%.

I was looking forward to this game and then I played the beta and thought it was pretty average.

The U.S based PC Gamer gave it a much higher rating. 85% I believe.

89%

And some other source gave it like a 86% (though not sure of the source, something like nvzone).

A tad off-topic but I apologize in advance for it, but Dnuggs, as a fellow PC Gamer reader, why did The Vede step down from EIC? And what are your thoughts on the new chick?

No idea, and to be quite honest, I have no idea who the chick is. I really don't follow the politics behind the magezine, mostly just read it when I am on the crapper :P

I do like PC Gamer though, more times then not their reviews reflect my opinions on games.

Unless the high end game is utterly lacking in some way, I think hellgate will be well worth it - my copy was shipped yesterday and I'm expecting it to arrive tomorrow, so I'll find out over my week holiday next week, probably.

I enjoyed the early stages we see in the demo, and can only imagine that their fun factor will be multiplied by several thousand while playing with friends, as with d2.

It's also good to remember that hellgate will get massive developer support post-retail for years to come, at least we may assume as much - so the boxed game we'll be getting is not really the final, finished article. It will be constantly improved, tweaked and added onto for years to come, as with D2. At least, such is my hope.

im more of a PC zone guy myself...but gamer is also a great mag. PC format is my fav though (mind u they were way to generous with two worlds imho).

anywho a 73% from PC gamer is pretty bad in my book....chances are i wont pick it up unless my other sources dont agree with gamer. i was definately expecting better than 73%.

It got 73% in PC Gamer UK, the US version gave it a 89%. I have never read the UK version, so I have no idea what the difference between the two publications are, I simply know that PC Gamer (US) more times then not reflects my own views on games.

For all I know the Brits are just a bunch of crabby snobs :P j/k

This game got a 3/6 and a 4/6 in two of the largest Norwegian Internet-sites. (6 as in a dice-roll) I doubt this game can live up to it's hype, I know I won't be getting this, not right away anyway.

I'll take the word of PC Gamer over the "two of the largest Norwegian Internet-sites" any day...

Not that I need it of course, I own the game and enjoy it regardless what some reviewers may say.

PCG UK scores are a bit weird. Their scoring was REALLY messed up in the past, anything below 80% was pretty hammered in the review. The last few percent on their scale (89-94) was pretty much all that mattered, and a game which got 94 was many times better than something which got 89. Totally messed up, but it works when you understand what they mean by their scores.

Then they decided that it WAS messed up so they started scoring more reasonably, but that was messed up too because they gave good games lower scores so in your gut, you got the impression that they were crap when you looked at the number.

Ya, very much so. I don't get myself caught up in the "hype" though.I simply enjoy the game presented to me. It's very fun and has the exact same feeling of Diablo (imo). Leveling, looting, and mowing down through crowds of demons.

It has some problems, though I am absolutely certain the game will continue to improve. The problem is, people like to compare HG:L to Diablo II + LOD with all the patches. Not many people remeber what Diablo II was like on release. And like Diablo II, this game will also mature.

Heey, what's wrong with Norwegian sites all of a sudden? I find them to be accurate and informative most of the time. i'm glad you're enjoying the game, but there are several lukewarm reviews out there. I'm just pointing that out.

I'm still on the fence, I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed the demo. Reminded me of an RPG version of Doom 3(one of my favorite all time games). But there is so much hatin' on this game right now. Hard to judge if some ofthese points are valid or if they are just being trolls. I'll probably get the game, I nearly bought it at lunch today, I just need some reviews for some reassurance.

Nothing wrong, just pulling your chain a bit :P

I have no idea about those sites, so any comment I make regarding them is pretty worthless.

I don't listen to reviews, I am now a happy Founder and i'm positive the game will mature. The beta is what sold me not the SP demo.

If you liked the demo, it's a very safe bet you will really like the full game. The demo was pretty lackluster even compared to the beta.

But nothing wrong with holding off a bit. If you are on the fence it's probably a smart move.

Yeah. There are tons of people hating on this game who probably haven't even played the demo. It really is hard sometimes to separate the crap from the legitimate complaints. But anyhoo, my game is in transit and should be here tomorrow. I look forward to maybe playing with some of you. :)

Oh, okey.

So you think this game is that much fun, huh? Maybe worth checking out after a patch... or ten. Lot's of games to play anyway, so I'm not in a hurry.
