I have such a bad computer and im dying to play some games on my pc but I cant because my computer has one of the worst video cards in the world. The video card I have is a SiS video card and it wont let me play any game on the pc. So now I haveĀ figure out ho I can answer my problem . The first one is to buy a low end computer to play atleast some games on my pc. The otherĀ isĀ to bring my pc that I have now to a computer store and see if the can implant a new graphics card (prob. ati) and replace the SiSĀ or just add it in with my SiS intergrated one. So could anyone tell me if a SiS intergrated graphics card even be replace or could the guys at the computer store just another one in?

As long as it's not a laptop, you should be able to put a new graphics card in it.Ā  Sounds like you're a pc novice so I'd let a professional do it.Ā  The only issue might be the age of your pc.Ā  The latest gen cards use pci-express which has been a standard for the last few years.Ā  There were some cards for the previous standard (agp) but not a lot so I'm not sure if they are even sold anymore.Ā  It might be better to just buy a new pc.

you really should update to service pack 2, it's free

and it wouldn't hurt to go up to a gig of RAM as well.

Ā

First of all you have to find out what type of RAM you have (ie DDR or DDR2).

RAM comes in sticks... so you could get a 512MB stick or a 1GB stick etc... The RAM then just slots into the motherboard. Ā

None that are prebuilt, and I honestly don't think you're ready to build one by yourself. Can you find someone who will hold your hand on your first build?

If you can, order your mobo and case from the same place and see if they'll put it in for you, that's always the hardest part in my experience.

It sounds like you should really look into purchasing a new computer.Ā  Depending on your motherboard you may, or may not be able to install a new video card.Ā  If your motherboard does not have an AGP slot you won't be able to install a new Video card.Ā  You could get on old PCI card in that case, but that wouldn't get you the performance you'll need to play current games.Ā  Your current computer is also in need of more memory, which you should be able to upgrade, but unless you can get a new video card installed more memory will not do you any good.

For $700 you should be able to get a decent computer to play games on.Ā  What types of games are you looking to play?

www.ibuypower.com is a good site to check out for getting budged gamming computers.Ā  If you already have a monitor, speakers, keyboard, and mouse than you can simply choose to not puchase them and spend your money on purchasing better computer components.Ā
