Hey guys,
I am running vista 64 ultimate, i have a AMD 6400+ 3.2ghz processor, but my vista specs tell me that my cpu is only 2.0ghz. Does anyone else have this problem? I used "CPU-Z" and "N-Tune" and both have my clock rate @ 2000mhz.

I tried changing some BIOS settings, CPU frequency was set to auto, It was on 2000mhz X10, so i changed it to 3200mhz X16 and still nothing!!!

ANY help would be appreciated,

thank you for your time.

I forget what AMD's equivalent to Intel's "Speedstep" is, but perhaps that's enabled? You know what I mean? The power-saving function that down-clocks your CPU.

Most likely it reads the speed while as Star said the Cool'n'quite function is active.

The CPU will clock back up when all the Mhz are needed.

yeah basically the CPU speed is lowered unless a demanding application is used. so do a vista experience update and while that is happening start cpu-z and you will see your CPU going at 3.2ghz
