I just purchased BIOSHOCK and am trying to install it on a brand new fully-equipped ASUS VX2 notebook with Windows XP.However, the installation is not successful.

About half way through the install, I get the following error:

-----------------------------------

"Feature Transfer Error"
Feature: DefaultFeature
Component: ContentDir
File: E:data2.cab
Error: The device is not ready.

-----------------------------------

Hitting ""OK" in the error window terminates the installation.

I should add that I tried to install this game on my ASUS W1 with XP (this older W1 notebook had terrible graphics problems which made the game unplayable, so I uninstalled it), and then my girlfriend's newer Dell with Vista, but it did not run on either.

I thought it would surely run on this VX2, since this is a fully equipped notebook. But I have been unable to install and run this game.

BIOSHOCK has since been removed from the Dell and the ASUS W1, so this VX2 will be THE ONLY instance. Could this be the problem, that I tried to install it too many times?

I hope someone can help resolve this. It is so frustrating when a fairly expensive game can not even be installed.

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

Try it on a desktop and see if you have the same problem. I don't know...it's just a guess.

It could be a problem with the disc as well. I suggest you try installing on a desktop if you can, if that is not possible, take it back to the store and ask for another disc. They will replace is, test that as well. If you get the same problem, then you know something is wrong with you laptop.

I had a very similar problem when installing Crysis, it would encounter errors woth certain .cab files.

Turns out it was because of my RAM ^^

I had a problem installing this game as well. Turns out it was my anti-virus(AVG) that was causing it. Simply disabling it didnt work, I had to completely uninstall it.
