$500? Double it and you'll get what you want (well, more or less).

Do you need and OS? I just remembered about that, as I was putting this together.

1. Motherboard and CPU Combo

2. Video Card

3. RAM and PSU Combo

4. HDD and Case Combo

5. Disc Drive

You don't want a green drive, they are too slow and that PSU doesn't inspire confidence.

Are you going with my build? If so, swap the HDD and Case I chose for this; the HDD in this combo is faster than the one in the combo I chose earlier. Also, swap the RAM and PSU combo for this. The PSU is from a more reliable brand.

That PSU looks decent, more than enough for that build. Oh and he's right, don't buy a green drive, especially a 5400rpm one.

Well, I suggested some better alternatives to the OP, in the post above yours.

I don't really see the problem with green drives. Mine is like 77MBps which is 15MBps faster than my Caviar.

Min 38, max 105. I thought that was normal for a HDD. :(

400-500 budget and "extremely high settings" shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentence. You cannot be a cheapskate and expect so much. Either raise your "budget" accordingly or lower your expectations on the settings... you cant have both

The seagate 500gb does 120, the single platter one.

And the 1TB is faster than both the 500GB and the Western Digital Green drives.
