you could run crysis in a window and run CCC at the same time to look at the temps. there is a check box in crysis to run in window. 55C is pretty good for temp but you should only have to run the GPU fan at 45% to get 55c. I don't know why your CCC says 99% activity, are you running anything or testing the clocks?
hey redxsniper, if you are having problems register your card at the XFX site and submit a question ticket, you should register it anyway. Your serial number to do this is on the door hanger. Also you could go to the ATI site where you got the CCC and they have forum sites that are very good.
mine idles at 48 and load 60 ish with fan at 50% (see sig for card version)[QUOTE="da_monstr"]
My 4870X2 is also HOT. 64 (celsius) at idle, 80+ under load. It's nothing special for top-end cards.

Well, you have some special card cooler (or is it processor cooler?). But when the fan hits 100%, it gets really loud.da_monstrnope its stock. i dont mess around with gpu cooling
The HD48xx series is built to run at 2 speeds: Surface of the sun or Turbine. Raise the fan speed at the expense of noise and extra heat dispersed into your domicile. Did they ever fix powerplay with the hd4870 btw? When I had one it only downclocked the memory clock. 4850 powerplay worked as advertised, though.
