Okay, just built new rig and everything, with intel dual core processor E6750. I have a program called Speedfan, and it's telling me my core is 56C and my ambient is 47C! I tried starting up my new copy of Crysis, and the alarm in my bios that tells me when my cpu is over 60 degrees went off... I went out and bought artic silver 5, and put it on the cpu, and I made sure the heatsink is super tight over the cpu, but I don't get why these temps are so high :(. Here is my case if that helps http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144151 and my powersupply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817139003.

How much paste did you put on?

Instructions as per Arctic Silvers site.

It says theres a break in period of 200 hours. I just put it on not to long ago, is that why it's so hot?

Also, to what temperture is it bareable to run my cpu at before it's really in trouble? Like if I'm playing Crysis at like 70+ degrees... How can I keep it down? All my fan speeds are at max.

Can anyone else comfirm this? Sorry I just want to be sure. Because my cpu had been overrheating before to over like 90c, and it eventually shut down my pc. The cpu has like a saftey feature to do that right? Like before any real damage can be done, it shuts itself down? Or will damage still be done if I'm playing crysis with like 76c for like an hour?

76c sure sounds hot to me, maybe not for a gpu, but a cpu thats pretty hot. make sure the HSF is on right and you dident use to much thermal compound.. all you need is a small dab ( think half a grain of rice)

You said that you put ThermalPAste more that you should do. You just need avery very thin layer, otherwise you will have even wrose temprature.
