I bought the Game of the Year edition off of Steam today. I thought they would have put measures in place to make sure it was playable. But, The game runs way, way too fast. I press a button to step right and I'm on the other side of the room in an instant. Please, can anyone help? The framerate is unplayably high! lol.

ok, so i guess you have a dualcore cpu, probably amd. To fix the problem, launch the game and ctrl-alt-delete, right click on the deusex.exe process, then click on set affinity and untick cpu 1. Get back to the game, if its not fixed or if the game is now too slow, do the same thing but this time only check the cpu 1 box. You will need to do this everytime you launchthe game though, but its worth it, because this game is great.

It only affects the program you selected (ie Deus Ex) and it only affects it in that particular instance.

That means that you will have to do it again every time you want to play, but you won't have to worry about it affecting any other part of your computer in any way. I have to do it with several games - San Andreas and System Shock 2, to name two.

no, only that this specific application will only use 1 core. You only need to do this everytime you LAUNCH the game. I wish there would be another fix than this... unless youre playing on a laptop?

Heres what worked for me: Installing latest geforce drivers 178.24

Could also be that installing drivers enabled v-sync.

PS whats with the lame text input, I get double lineshift when I use enter... grr
