Whenever I start up Company of Heroes, I get through the the menu and title and all that junk and then I get to the actual gameplay and my computer restarts, this also happened with a World of Warcraft Trial version that I got. Civilization 4 works perfectly though, what could be wrong?

Did it used to work or has this happened since you first installed it? If it's happened all along you might try reinstalling. I don't think it could be a patch issue because I think you must have installed them all since it's letting you start to play.

Its the first time I have installed it on this computer, which is pretty much brand new. It even worked on my old piece of crap computer. I have reinstalled it though and I have the latest version of DirectX and I have the newest driver for my graphics card (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro)

It looks as if you're running a out of date Directx version. Nevertheless here's the latest version of Directx: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en

Can you please link your OS?

Click Start located at the bottom left corner of your taskbar. In the text bar type run and a window should open. Next in the window type dxdiag and your Directx Diagnostic tool should appear. Under the System tab search for "Operating System" and that should be your OS.

I recommend the latest driver for your gpu(ATi Radeon 9800 pro). Here's a link: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonx-xp

Your download of choice should be Option 1.

Your problem is your virtual memory probably isn't automatically managing your paging file size to offer much more ram. I currently don't have my xp machine around me but I'll try my best to help ya bud.

You basically need to go to control panel and select "system". Next select Advanced system settings and a System Properties box should appear. Under the Advanced tab you should then see "Performance(Visual effects, processor scheduling, memory usage, and virtual memory) click on settings and a performance options would appear. Go to the Advanced tab and search for Virtual memory and select change. A virtual Memory box should appear and make sure there's a check in the box for "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" if it isn't first make sure "system managed size" is selected and click set and then check the box for "Automatically..." and select ok. Your computer should prompt you to restart your PC.

I did that, at the very beginning it was on "automatic" and i thought that was the problem, then i looked it up, and changed it to like something *1.5 and then that *4, i'll put it back on auto tho
