first go to device manager and uninstall your current display drivers, turn pc off, unplug power cord from back of cpu, install your 8600gts into the pci-e slot (picture below), turn computer back on, go to nzone.com and download and install new display drivers.

Oh, ok thanks. My friend came over and told me that I didn't have a 6pin pcie cable and that i couldn't use this card (I got a full refund). He recommend me these two cards:

Which one is the better card? Also I'll contact Acer customer support and speak to them about this, should be able to get it sorted out.
I would get the saphire radeon.zache86
Ok, thank and sorry for all of the questions but I have one more; how well would it run CoD4, Bioshock and Crysis?
My current card can run CoD4 at 1024 x 768 with 30fps constant at extra textures, no aa, and almost everything else off. it can run Crysis at 800 x 600 (in dX9) with textures at med, shaders at med, physics at high, sound high, post processing med, motion blur med and everything else on low at a constant 25 fps (it does dip down into the 17s and goes as high as 39).
Thanks for the help guys.
well... the 2600xt or the 8600gt is a hard choice because one is only better than the other depending on the game you want to play.
If you want to play crysis, the 8600gt will be a better choice because crytek made crysis with nvidia cards in mind. but if you wanted to play a game like elder scrolls oblivion, the 2600xt will give you around 10 more fps than the 8600gt.
you can compair the 2 cards here if you dont believe me:
http://www.gamespot.com/features/6173135/p-13.html
but if you asked me, i would say get the 8600gt because nvidia has great driver support.
as for that stupid black plastic strip over your expansion slots, i say break that motha off, but if it has screwes than maybe you should just unscrew it off (dont break ne thing) >_>;
