So normally I would be able to put something together myself, but I've really out of the loop for the last full year. I'm starting college soon, and I'd like to play games on a pc obviously if possible, but budget is a problem. I have parts from my old pc, which i could possibly use in this one as well.

nowobviously, the gpu has to be replaced, but is there any mileage left at all in a p45 mobo?q6600 cpus are easily found on ebay for under 80pounds sterling.... and maybe if I coupled that with a sexy new gpu? plus a case and ram....

the main reason for this pc would be The Witcher2. i don't expect to play it onultra, but on high maybe? I have about 500 pounds max (the less the better)I couldput towards this pc, no more.Any advice would be great

I can show you the build that I just assembled on newegg. I plan on buying it soon and it should be able to play most games at max, besides a few graphic intensive ones. The price right now is about $680 USD (not sure what that is in pounds) without monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Interested?yentlequible

Looks like you are only around 426 pounds if I converted it correctly. You could use that to upgrade a couple things or just take it as it is. Now I haven't bought it yet, but I am pretty sure that it all should work together. But make sure to double check the components again just in case.

Owning a HD4850 and getting a HD6850 is a bad upgrade in my opinion, that HD4850 still plays the same games the HD6850 does very good.

The 2-4games the HD4850 struggle with the HD6850 does too. (crysis 1, metro 2033 and some other games)

I would just upgade the CPU, RAM and motherboard, perhaps get some new coolers, keep the graphics because it not at all "obvious the GPU has to go" it's still a very capable card.

Wait until HD7xxx and GT600 before you upgrade the graphics.

Ummm no. A 4850 does not have the same performance level of a 6850. Maybe if you crossfired but a single 6850 will def out-perform a single 4850 any day. So upgrading to a 6850 is not a bad upgrade at all. If his mobo has crossfire caps then i'd suggest maybe crossfiring 2 4850s' for cheaper cost than a single 6850 for the same performance level.Newportzzz

i agree with swe hunt on this post, i had two 4850's in crossfire and they were great performers and i still have mine as back up. At 1080p they ran solid.
