So i'm getting a new PC, but i'm not really up to date with what is the best thing to buy right now. I don't really care about the hardware stuff, so I try to get other people to do that for me so I can just play the games on it.:P So I was hoping you guys could help me with that. Someone else is building it for me and i'm just finding parts.

I want something that can play any game out right now on highest settings in a high resolution. I'm happy when a game plays at about 30fps or above - so I just need something that can achieve that.

Also, lets exclude Crysis from the list of "all games" as i've heard its unplayable on highest settings even on the best computer - (Not certain if thats actually true though?)

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your input and quick reply f-a-d-3

Would you provide links to these things too? I'm not lazy, but when I look I always seem to find lots of different makes and I get confused and never know which is which. :/ I'm just so dumb when it comes to hardware.

Thanks if you can.

There's no reason to get a Quad, unless you wanna encode videos, and music and do other multi-media things.

With at least $1000 on the line?

I'd ignore f-a-d-3. Whether joking or no, this is the guy who's building a $20,000 computer.

Ye right. Do you know that 1euro = 1,469$? Besides he told us budget in pounds not euros, so he could get build u listed for around ~540 pounds, and his budget is 1000 pounds.

Here's the easiest way to build a nice CPU. Go to HP and find a refurbished Quad Core System, then put a PSU and GPU of your choice. (Make sure the CPU is nice enough not to bottleneck the GPU!) This is the absolute CHEAPEST way to make a reasonable gaming system without spending thousands of $$$$$$$$$$.

I hope your kidding cuz, they are both in the shape of an E and neither is/are(it's summer lol) used in America, and for your Info we aren't required to learn that in school, just the metric system, which I will agree is alot easier than using inchs and such, also why should we know a currency that we don't use? sry to be off topic who ever started this thread :P

I am not one of those ignorant americans who only hears about other countrys by reading the paper and finding out that we are going to war with them. And I am offended by being treated as such, call me ignorant or whatever just cuz I didn't know what the sign for pounds was, I knew that its a currency but was just unsure of the symbol that represented it. Also I am going to make the stupid assumption that your from England and tell you to go see a dentist, and make sure you have your tea, and hail the queen.

PS: Not all americans are stupid, that would be like %80 of us, and its only because our population is so huge, and there are 50 different states with differnt rules and regulations. Have fun with your parliment. But I will stick with being in a Republic every day of the week.

Look up the definition of Republic, America's a republic not a true democracy, if it was the population would vote on everything. And not that its any of you buisiness but I am voting for Obama because unlike McCain he is willing to talk to forign leaders who the United States does not agree with.

by using the pronoun you, you directed the statement at me. And by saying "theres not only America in the world." you insulted my inteligence, implying that I was so stupid and Ignorant that I thought America was the Only country. And the only reason I am responding to these is because I feel that America gets way to much **** from Europeans, that owe there freedom to America because we helped you guy's stop Adolf Hitler a threat to america if he established the beach head of Europe. Especialy the French Government,( I say French Government because I have a friend who is French and He is nice and friendly enough lol).

Only 5$ more for the Q9550 ^.matrixian

I just did a quick thing, and obviously if the Q9550 is that cheap then it would be the better buy, also quads run hot so he should probly get a CPU cooler of some kind.

Guys, can we not derail the thread with petty arguments? Please?

Soo back on topic?

Intel E8600 3.33GHz Core 2 Duo
Gigabyte EP35C-DS3R motherboard
GeForce 9800 GTX OC2 512MB GDDR3
2x CORSAIR 2GB RAM DDR3
500GB SATA Harddrive
550w Power Supply
Basic sound card and two speakers (don't care much about sound quality)
Samsung 19" Widescreen Monitor

Computer case I haven't picked out yet..

This is what i've decided on, what do you think? Any comments or changes to the list are welcome.

When I said before about £1000 being my price range, that still holds true, but i've found that a PC like this ^ is fine for my needs and i'll still have money left over to spend on other worthwhile things. But i'm no expert so I dont really know if this will play games how I want them to play...
