The main problem I am having is that because this is suppose to be a budget build I thought that a i3 2100 would suffice until I could get an upgrade for it but appearently intel dual core sucks compared to amd quad core so I started a new build that uses an AMD FX 4100. Now I can't chose between the two.My budget is $700 and keep in mind that included in that budget is money needed for a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Also I purposely left out Windows 7 because I have a copy already.

get that cpu isntead of the fx-4100 the 4100 isnt a ture 4 core. its technically a 2 core as well but im not here to debate those semantics with the forum (cause i know its going to get called in by SOMEONE)

basically your setups will be the same.. and i will illuminate on that statement:

when the full 4 cores are getting used the amd cpu will be superior. stuff like sandbox games (gta, saints row, etc.), RTS's (total war, starcraft, civilization), and even some MMO's or rpg's (gw2, WoW, diablo 3, torchlight 2). and in stuff like FPS's, racing games, non cpu demanding genre's or games in genres (skyrim, CoD, bf3, etc.) you will either (varing on resolution) see little to no difference between the two. in your case expect only small difference and nothing to cry about at night after youve bought everything.

id also favor the AMD build because of your better power supply n casing. last thing u want is a PoS power supply and a case made of paper mache. this isnt to say anything is wrong with the rosewill challenger (lord knows how often i recommend it) but the haf 912 is a heck of an improvement over the challenger or challenger-U3

hope this answers your questions.

If I switched the case and the PSU in the intel build to the ones i picked out in the AMD build would you still recommend AMD? Also I plan on playing a lot of RPG's, a few Sandbox games, and a lot of FPS's.
