So, I'm here at college and a friend of mine saw my recently built computer and decided he wanted to build himself one as well. Seeing as you guys severely helped me out, lets see what can be done. Here's the deal. He's got around $450-500 to spend. I've got a PSU that I can give him that's 450W. We've also already got an OS ready. He's looking to game (somewhat seriously), like CoD4, WaW, MW2, L4D, Borderlands, ACII, etc... Give it your all gentlemen!

Thats 411 after rebates and not including shipping. Should be somewhere between 430-470 with shipping and before rebates. Just a quick search for you. He could probably skimp on some things by getting a small hd, use a craptastic 5 dollar junk case for now, get a crt monitor from friend LOL, etc etc.

Based on SMC's build:

WD Caviar Blue 500GB HDD w/ Promo Code 'WDAHSU5'
ASRock M3A770DE Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor
Cooler Master Elite 335 Case w/ Sony DVD Drive
XFX HD 5770 Video Card w/ G.Skill DDR3-1600 4GB Memory

Reason I changed the case and dvd drive is because this case has a fan inside it and the Samsung drive looks to be unreliable according to reviews. The different video card/memory was just a cost cut.

That's bull, look at the builds people have come up with already. He'll be able to do some high end gaming with a 4850 (at a modest resolution) no problem.
