Morrowind GOTY edition

Oblivion GOTY edition

KOTOR

NWN Diamond

NWN2

Fallout 1, 2, 3

Deus Ex

Assassin's Creed

Baldur's Gate I and II and expansions

Icewind Dale II

Mass Effect

Some of these I have, others I am in the process of getting, but I'm a fan of RPGs. What are some must-have games that you would add to my list that I am missing? I prefer depth, replayability, and great story/role playing to flashy graphics.

STALKER SOC would fit very snugly into that list.

These should be on any rpg list:

The Witcher belongs on that list ^^

Vampire the masquerade: Bloodlines, should be there too.

These may both be odd choises, but I do have a reasoning...

Deus ex

System shock 2

Reason: these games are a blend of rpg and fps, so they reminds of Oblivion and Fallout 3, they were not considered rpgs by default, but against modern games they have ALOT more rpg elements, then lets say Oblivion...

there might be a few more released in october, but the list you allready have is a very good one...

The mixed bag og rpgs:

Ultima game series: this one is kinda the grandpa of PC rpgs, and some things has never been seen again after this series. the positive thing is that they are quite old, so with dosbox they run on ANYTHING

Might and magic 6 and 7: these are older rpgs, and they were lacking in some areas, but what they did they did good. It is a basic rpg and is a sandbox rpg like Oblivion... just huge... early on in those games You learn to understand that paying for a teleport is alot better tehn WALKING the distance, the games itself are really old, and reminds me of duke3d type graphics (altho 7 uses 3d acceleration through d3d)

Fans of RPGs are sometimes disappointed by Oblivion after a while. Assassins Creed is a fantastic game, it has nothing to do with RPG or levelling (even the missions are a bit samey) this game is more about the locations and how you choose to use them in order to complete your objective. The gameplay mechanics of free-running are near perfect, like Mirror's Edge it could be a game in itself.

Disagree. It's mindless hack'n'slash. For an experience more up your alley, try Planescape: Torment.

I enjoyed Diablo over Diablo 2, more so because I could save my game and my character in Diablo.

Check out Bioshock, and the Stalker games. Both are good shooters with some RPG-like elements that will probably appeal to you.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions.

Planescape torment and The Witcher sound particularly interesting, not sure how I missed those.

Anyone have problems with the Tages DRM included with The Witcher, I was reading about it and it sounds like it can screw up your drives, Daemon tools, and render some aspects of the game unplayable. Companies taking measures to protect their profits is fine but not if it's at the expense of my system/hardware/components.

I suggest you stay away from Guild Wars. The community has diminished significantly and the only people left are the level 20 players with level 20 heroes soloing all the quests. Not good for a party-oriented game. Unless you find a good guild and start to PvP, then you will find little else fun with the game that has since lived past its glory days.

Ugh guild wars... I bought it, playied it for a week, and then forgot about it...

I think that ToEE stands for "Temple of Elemental Evil" it is a DnD Story package, converted to Computer.

The Half Life series (fps, not rpg) is great. It's really fun, has an interesting story, and has great replayability.
