unless u wana play at insane resolutions then go for the x2, but u can still go for a sli setup, but the question is how many extra cards do u wana run?

Your current card is already pretty good you should probably save some for next year.

No, in truth, those entusiast cards only have practical uses at higher resolutions. It almost a waste to buy them. Unless you are an absolute have to have Max completely whenever you play then just keep your card for a while.

I currently have 2 8800GTS 512MB cards (they're a little better then the 8800GT). I know that my current CPU tends to bottleneck their performance some, but I still see a pretty good increase in performace when I'm running in SLI.

It's been a while since I fired up Crysis (last time I played Crysis was before they patched the game to work better), but here's what I remember from trying out 1 card vs 2 in SLI, running at 1650 x 1080.

1 8800GTS 512MB card: all medium settings, no AA, averaged about 28fps

2 8800GTS 512MB cards in SLI: 50% settings on high, 50% settings on medium, no AA, averaged about 35fps.

If I had a better CPU then my current AMD X2 5600+ (oc'd from 2.8 to 3.01) - something like the Intel E8400 or Q6600, I'd see some better performance from my SLI setup.

Check out the benchmarks (click here) and notice how a good rig with an SLI setup for 8800GTS 512MB cards is 4 spots from the top on Crysis out of the current Nvidia cards out there. I know this is just one benchmark to base my information here off of, but it's the only one I could easily find that had scores for all current cards. You'll see that 2 8800GT 512MB cards in SLI isn't too far below the 8800GTS. For the most part, if you run 2 8800GT cards in SLI, you should generally see as good (if not better) performance then Nvidia's current top card...the 260 GTX I believe it is.

Just some information to keep in mind.

My suggestion would be to run another 8800GT in SLI or if you don't want to run two cards, then wait for the next gen cards to come out.... whenever they're being released.
