I am having problems getting sound working with the Asus Sabertooth X58 onboard sound which is the RealtekĀ® ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC. There are no conflicts in the device manager so am pretty sure everything is installed correctly. I think the problem is simply with the speaker connections to the back of the motherboard.

I am using the Altec Lansing 251 speakers which can be seen here: http://modtown.co.uk/mt/review2.php?id=alteclansing251

It says to hookup the black to black, green to green and yellow to yellow. Says it is industry standard colors but I have never had such colors on any soundcard so have always had problems hooking up these speakers.

There is no sound when playing mp3's at all but when I run the realtek hd audio manager speaker test I can hear sound coming out of the speakers. I know I have the connections plugged in wrong because when subwoofer is highlighted the sound is coming out of a different speaker. Anyone have any idea where the green black and yellow connections should be plugged in and if so if that will solve the no sound problem with mp3's?

Green is for stereo front.

Black is for rear.

Yellow is for sub and center.

Thank you! I have sound again. Could never figure out the Altec Lansing instructions. Saving that so I never have this problem again.
