Help on free Cod4 for PC

Hey guys, i'm the new dude, and I was wondering if you can help me on the COD4 installation process, I downloaded patches 1.7 and 1.6 and 1.6 said that I needed Call of Duty(R) 4 - Modern Warfare (TM) installed before I can download patch 1.6, my problem is that there was only patches that I saw, not the game client, I saw mods, and patches but not the actual client besides the demo. If I was suppose to use the demo for the patches then please tell me because I didn't know beforehand. My questions are: What is the client and where do I download it? All i saw was the mods and patches down to v1.1, was I suppose to use the demo as my client?

It'd be greatly appreciated if you gave me a step to step concept for this. Thank you

When you buy the game, you need to download the patches. Patches are always free.

There's still people who don't even know you can play games on computers. I don't feel like belittling a random person on the internet just because he doesn't have the same interests as me. If it was a troll, he wouldn't have ditched the thread after solving his "issue". Coming back to the carnage would be the best part.

. . . aren't there already many, many free multiplayer games available, and more coming everyday? granted the suckfactor on most is/are high, but there are many that are quite playable, links to many are even in these forums. too bad most of the console gamers barely know much more than pushing the on button and checking emails and trolling forums and surfing pr0n, instead of useful web searching for the multitude of online (and offline) freeware that is out there. I bet many of them would kill for Battlefield Heroes.
