So i recently got a 26" Vizio HDTV from walmart. I use one HDMI port for a ps3 and tried connecting my pc to it with a HDMI/DVI cable.
I should mention that i have and Nvidia Geforce 8600GTS card with 2 dvi ports and one s-video.
The screen gets cut at the edges and I know about the overscan problem HDTVs can have, but I was wondering if anyone could suggest resolutions or a solution to reduce or get rid of the edges being excluded.

At the moment it's set at 32 bit (windows xp) 1368x7(something, cant remember the number)

Hmm... I'm pretty sure you can use the NVidia control panel to adjust your screen position; try that. Sorry I don't have more specifics...

your tv has a 16:9 aspect ratio (i asume if its a HDTV) so you need to change you default pixel output on the computer to a 16:0 aspect ration for a full screen. Try 1280X720. If you dont know how to do this right right click on the desktop anywhere an the click properties. Then click the settings tab and change the pixels there. Let me know that should work as long as your pc can output that.
