help picking a new graphics card

I was thinking about buying a new graphics card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487026&ignorebbr=1. This is one that caught my eye. Its just in the right price range right now I am running a gtx 460 768 mb can anyone tell me if this a good upgrade or not? Thanks in advance. Also forgot to mention I think this card is not sli which is fine my current mother board wont support it anyway.

Meh not really, I'd at least go 750 Ti, otherwise look into the 660Ti/7870 if you can find them. Newer generation cards to look at also include 270x/760 GTX.

Those are the next (in my opinion) worthy jumps to make. I went from a 1 GB 460 GTX to a 2GB 7870 and the difference was impressive.

If you check around on openbox deals, you might be able to find a 7870, gtx 660, or 650ti boost for around the same price (those are other good options on a budget)

Do NOT upgrade to 750 nore 750ti, if you want to see a real upgrade you want to go with 660 or 760.

The difference between the 750/750ti and your 460 one is about 8%

I think your math's a little off.

A GTX 460 is on par/slightly slower than a 6850 (some of the third party 750ti's are 3-6% faster than a 7850 which puts it at 6970 levels). That's at least a 25-30% boost while offering twice the Vram and better drivers

750Ti isn't ideal but I have a feeling that budget is going to be an issue (which is why open box might be the way to go).

I only run one cause I can't afford to buy more.

umm, dont get the 750ti, its a waste to upgrade from a 460gtx to that. Instead buy something better or if not save up money and get something else later.

Saved for a 760, it'll be worth it

An important thing to take into account is the rest of your system. That is, do you have a good enough CPU to support your new GPU. And of course PSU. Since your PSU can handle 460 it will also handle 660, which I think is a better choice than 750, but 760 is the way to go, just like the others will say. You will need 2 6-pin power connectors to run it, tho. Or 30A on the 12V rail.

750ti is $160. For $30 more you get a significally faster r9 270 or gtx660

If your budget though is only up to $130 ( the price of the cards you listed ) then you are better off with r7 260x . Its a bit faster than 750 at the same price ( newegg prices )

Unfortunately between the $120 r7 260 and the $190 r9 270/gtx 660 currently there is no card with competitive price/performance ratio to fill the void ( 750ti is overpriced ). Amd r265 was supposed to launch early this month for $150 and according to benchmarks is about 15% faster than 750ti but still is missing in action

It lists all the price ranges and the best value card at each budget level and has the best store deals for specific models. And yeah I think another post mentioned this, but if you have something like a Dell computer with limited space and probably not a great power supply, the 750 ti would likely be the way to go. Can't wait to see Nvidias next release of a more powerful card that uses the Maxwell chipset, but I bet litecoin miners are going to cause the price of it to skyrocket anyway.

I'd probably recommend a list from an actual tech site.
