my system specs that i built 5 years ago, now im over hauling it come january but untill then i want counter strike source to run with no fps dips to where its unplayable at times, like on a 32 man server on dust 2 map i go down at times to under 10 fps. so should i upgrade the video card or the processor. i think the video card but im unsure. vid cards im looking at are a x700 pro, x1300 pro , 6600 gt and a 6800 gt all agp. any help apreciated

athlon xp 2100+

1.25 gigs of memory

ati 9700 pro 128

I'd say the CPU, I think your video card can handle the game fine...

I'm not sure what options you have though

do u ever get real low fps that it stagger or slows down? i go as hi as 70 fps if its a small map but with lots of players or a big map it dips way down

The video card because with my Xp 2200+ and GF6600 i get 40 fpsdayaccus007

do u ever get real low fps that it stagger or slows down? i go as hi as 70 fps if its a small map but with lots of players or a big map it dips way down

No I think 25 is minim and 40 average, I get up to 80fps

If thats when you get the performance hit then that means you need a new processor. The video card should be fine for CSS.

forgot to add the 2100+ is overclocked to 1.8 ghz
