I have a x1950pro. I havehad it for six months. Help me please!

I recently tried to update my catalyst drivers to version 7.5 (the most recent) from version 7.4. During the install it aborted and told me it could not find the appropriate driver. I gave a wry grin and thought "Alas, ATI!" And thought nothing of it. Today I boot up and I get a SERVERE error that informs me I have no driver current ly installed. What I did:

1. (Attempted) a reinstall of 7.4. No go same error as before.

2.(Attempted) reinstall of the drivers that came with the card. This time the error told me It could not detect any vga device for which to install teh driver.

3.Complete unistall of all ATI stuff from the control panel (starting with teh ati uninstaller, as the manual states).

4.Again (attemted) a reinstall of the original drivers. No device to install for.

Obviously I am getting base functionality as I can see my screen, but I have yet to try any games. Please assist!

lol well i had that error once... umm go through and uninstall every ati related thing you have (ATI tool, cataylst, everything!!) and then go in and just install the video driver... if that doesn't help then you probably are going to have to reinstall windows...

This program may be able to help you out: http://www.drivercleaner.net it will remove all ATi drivers related to the video card as well as others and is quite good.

EDIT: hmmm it seems that it is no longer free

Does anyone else know of another tool like that which is free? I wonder what the last free version was and where you can get it...

You might have to go in and do it manually.
