When I increase the core clock frequency by 5mhz it just automatically goes back to the default speed. How do I stop this? I'm using ATI Tools 0.25 Beta 15. My card is the HIS X1950Pro 256mb. My power supply is this, if you need to know - nothing wrong with it -

Any help would be great, thanks.

You need to increase it more, there are like set clocks. For example, if the stock is 580, setting to 585 may not change anything, but setting to 590 might go up to the next clock..

See what happens when raising it further, and try going to the latest version of Ati Tool (0.27b I think)

Nah, I've just tried that and it still just reverts back to default speeds. I don't see how getting the newer version will help though... I mean I'll try it but.... shall I go with ATI Tray Tools?

Oh sweet I've got it working thanks... it ends up you have to add 10mhz each time. But anyway, I've increased it from core (default) 580mhz to 620mhz, and after going the next stage up from that these green dots start appearing in the graphics display. I take it that that's a bad thing right? I don't understand though, my temps are only like 50-52'c. So is this normal or what? Also, what kind of fps difference might I see from 580mhz to 620mhz? Thanks.

You will get artifacting if you overclock too far, regardless of temperature. Back down a few mhz at a time until you can go 10mins in the artifact scanner error free :)

Yeah that's the thing, when I clock it a bit further than 620mhz, only the green dots start to appear, yet it still reads "no errors" in the artifact scanning. However, when I start to clock it really far, then it starts reporting errors. So would it be OK to use it even with the green dots? Or does that do damage to the graphics card itself? Sorry for all of the questions :P
