oops sorry lol will dodowngrade the 980 to like the 955 and pocket the difference. you want a 980 okay here you go in the motherboards bios (to get to it every board's is different normally f2 @ startup though)
set your cpu's multiplier up up once from defualt is the 955, again is the 965 again is the 970 again is the 980
your temps will change a few hairs but beyond that you made harmless adjustments and saved yourself easily $30
the rest isnt too bad id avoid the dark fleet case lineup jsut an opinion.
for the same money you can get an antec 900 of haf 922

You definitely don't need a Full Tower. They're only needed for E-ATX motherboards or complex watercooling. I'm using a large mid tower and it still manages to make all the components in my rig look tiny by comparison.
The Cooler Master CM690 II or Corsair 400R for example are sufficient for all but the most hardcore builds. Spending more than $90 on a case for a $1000 build is pointless.

no im saying that a phenom II x4 980 is a phenom II x4 955 with a certain setting that is controlled by the motherboard set higher up thats all. and that anyone willing to sit there and find that setting can turn a 955 into a 980 for free. thus saving you noticeable amounts of money.

couldnt i do the dame thing with the 980 then? and turn that setting up higher ? sorry im a noob lol[QUOTE="ionusX"][QUOTE="ablafasaolin"] so are you sayin i need a different motherboard? sorry i didnt understand that part, o ya i meant to ask, do you think i need a full tower? or would a mid tower do just fineablafasaolin

one + to the 980 though if it even counts for anything is that the 980 was sometimes cut from a phenom II x6 that the manufacturing testing phase deemed unworthy of being a 6 core but saw 4 or 5 working cores meaning it could hypothetically be turn back into a 6 core however the odds of this are fairly low of occuring and you wouldnt really improve in games only in things like mutimedia (movie making/watching)

speaking personnaly i wouldnt take the risk and jsut be happy with the x5 955 with the multiplier up to the level of a 980 or above.
Any way you could afford an Intel build instead? I wouldnt recommend a AMD build nowdays unless you get an AM3+ motherboard for their new BullDozer chips. I have an AMD build myself but Intel are just kicking so much ass at the moment with the i5 and i7s compared to the older Phenom IIs, if I had to buy now I wouldnt be buying a Phenom II 955.

iv read some reviews about the 980 and one review said they were able to overclock it to 4.3 , i dont think the 955 could do that, i may get the 955 anyways since its not like games are very demanding for cpus[QUOTE="ionusX"][QUOTE="ablafasaolin"] couldnt i do the dame thing with the 980 then? and turn that setting up higher ? sorry im a noob lolablafasaolin

thats the thing about overclocking its all a big game of chance you can get better clock i dont deny this but its got some luck to it no one can deny this.
i migth take my 945 up if i can one day.

It's a higher-binned chip though, so I imagine that it, on average, can reach a higher clock rate than the PII 955.
okay hold everything on the 955 tc get this instead:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103995
the 960t is a VERY rare phenom II x4 cpu based on zosma zosma is an x6 with the two cores off and that IS something you can:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTEfInwgxVs&ob=av3e
promise it cross my heart hope to die!
zosma FTW!!!
google zosma and read up on it.. its pretty darn awesome!

That's pretty neat. I was thinking of replacing my Athlon II x3 with a Phenom II 955, but after seeing that, I might try my luck with one of those 960T's. I wouldn't say no to an extra two cores
I'm guessing the "T" after the 960 means that it's a Thuban core?
basically its a way of making it stand apart from the deneb phenom II x4's. its not alone there were like 3-4 of em look for the rest to arrive to the shevles one day (though some are overclocking locked such as the 870t).
i believe that are also ones based on the 1090t which would be pretty boss. match a 980 in preformance for the price of a regular 4 core
