Hi, I googled this issue but it was kinda hard to find a clear step by step process. I want to do a clean install of windows 7 on my laptop. I know it's a time consuming process but I think it's pretty easy. I have two problems. I need to go buy an external harddrive to back all my files up and two I don't have the installation disc for windows. My laptop never came with one so I never had one so my question is. How would I attain an installion disc and come someone either explain or provide a link that has a clear, readable process of doing a clean install on windows.

If you're wondering why, Tera runs like absolute crap on my comp and it should be able to handle it. I've had other issues in the beginning with games like ME, Witcher 2 and others so I'm just tired of tweaking everything to get things to run okay so I'm hoping a clean install will fix the majority of issues. Thanks for any help.

Well chances are there is a partitiion on your hard disk that has windows/factory drivers yadda yadda already there. During post (boot up prior to windows boot up) press esc, or f3, or f10, or one of the function keys to access the option menu to restore your system. Now this isn't the same menu as system restore and safe boot...at least it's usually not. There you will find an option to reinstall windows. Just Google your laptop to find out which key will get you to the windows restore/reinstall. As for the process...it's step by step. Just dont choose repair because that's not what you want. Choose reinstall and then poof you're done...then just wait. I guess the hardest part will be figuring out with key gets you into that screen :)

^ only hard if he doesnt RTFM

Others will have a shortcut on the desktop, sometimes not so go through the program files list, to create a recovery disc. Burn dvd's, put in dvd, reboot, boot from dvd, follow steps, done.
