Setup i500k 4.10 ghz 212+ EVO with push/pul dual fan configuration, artic silver thermal, 2 200 mmfans and a 120 mm for exhaust at the back of the Coolermaster xm case. With all this airflow going and exiting the PC my idle numbers consistently stay at mid to high 40's and in prime shoot up to 70's. whats the problem????

Do you have the fans of the cpu cooler pointing the correct way? Also you may have too much or not enough thermal paste, Also may be possible you have the voltage too high for what you need.

My guess is thermal paste. My 3930k is running at 4.3ghz high 30s idle and mid to high 60s load and the 3930k is a much 'hotter' chip. Try reapplying your thermal paste

I,ve reapplied thermal paste 3 times, twice with the coolermaster thermal (one that came witht he kit) and once witht the artic. All 3 times have been the same idle and load temps. As for the voltage I didnt do it, its an automatic preset overclocking tool in the bios. Mobo is a intel dp67g extreme

Yeah I had that issue with too much thermal paste. I had to clean mine off, then apply the dot method, and now mine is clocked @ 3.7ghz, with good temps.

Do a manual overclock dont use the auto, For example For most Sandy Bridge CPUs, here are the steps necessary for 4.5GHz operation: 1. Change CPU voltage to 1.3-1.35v 2. Change CPU multiplier to 45x 3. Save and Exit

Possible causes, bad paste, heatsink not on right or tight enough.

Had a simialr issue like yours tried different pastes and for some reason this is the one that worked best.

Just apply a pea size to the center of the CPU and your good.

There's something better then nano 6, its the Tuniq TX-4 , its rated at 6.53W/mK vs 5.3 W/mK

TX 4

I'd guess the cooler isn't seated properly, or one of the fans is the wrong way round.

Basically you have intake fans at the front of the case and exhaust fans at the back and top. Your CPU cooler in push pull should have a fan on the front blowing through the cooler (front to back, as with the rest of the case) and the second fan on the back sucking (keeping the airflow going from the front fan). Does that make sense? It's kinda hard to explain it well.

On a fan the plastic braces is the direction the air will be pushed out of.

Ive already WASTED the whole tube of artic silver on applying and re=applying the damn thing. Wasted all this money on buying another fan for the push/pull config and more for the thermal i couldve just gotten the h60 and im sure that wouldve done the job. I just damn dont understand how im still on the frigging 40's c while idle!!!!

Nope Hyper 212+EVO with push pull setup is equal to a H70..... Problem is that you need to manually set your OC not the auto with bios. There is only a couple things that's giving you these temps. The heatsink isnt sitting on the cpu firmly, your cpu voltage is too high for what it needs or you have the cooler fans positioned wrong if you ruled out user error with thermal paste.

First, fix your cables, arrange them and make sure they are not blocking any air vents.

and also make sure that your Fan intake anf exhaust are even. If you're not OC'ing stock fans + another fan will do.

Try to download CPU-Z to monitor your CPU.

You know, 40C idle and 70C load isn't a big deal. As long as you can OC, who cares what the temperature is?

Idle temps? Wow. That is a bit high , for idle anyways. Mine stay @ 12 - 20c. In CPU intensive games I've seen them go up to 50-60c. My CPU isn't near as good as yours either.
