I'm currently using my X1950Pro in the beige PCI-E slot on my Gigabyte GA M57 SLI mobo. The question is, when I upgrade to the 8800GTX, can I move the card into the black slot instead? It should be OK, because aren't both slots classed as 16x? Thanks. Oh, here's an image for reference:

From your link:

The M57SLI motherboard supports NVIDIA's patented SLI configurations. There are two PCI Express x16 slots on the board. NVIDIA decided to outfit the 570 SLI chip with 28 PCI Express lanes. This forces the board to operate in SLI at x8 mode. Why NVIDIA decided not to provide 46 lanes as in the nForce 590, I'm not sure. Perhaps performance in SLI mode would be too close to its bigger brother. Also present on the board are two PCI v2.3 slots and three PCI Express x1 slots.

I would only install the 8800GTX. Make sure your PSU is up to the task.

Ah I see, so when using SLI one lane operates at x8 mode. The question is, when I insert the 8800GTX, does it matter what slot I place it in? Like does on colour have x16 mode, and the other x8? Oh, and don't worry about the PSU issue, I'm going to upgrade to the Corsair HX520W aswell ;)

Awww are you sure? That means I'll have to move my HDD out of the way. Because the GTX is so damn big!

No, I'm not positive. I'll try looking it up in the mb manual. What slot are you using, for your current card?

From page 17 of manual:

If you wish to enable the SLI function, install two SLI-ready graphics cards into the PCIE_16_1 and

PCIE_16_2 slots. (It is recommended to use graphics cards of identical brand and chips. For example:

GIGABYTE GV-NX76T256D-RH).

If you want to set up a single graphics card system, we recommend installing the graphics card on the

PCIE_16_1 slot to ensure better display performance
