Ok, before I start I will say I know nothing about graphics cards at all. I have an old ge force 6200. Apparently I can play Far Cry like that but when I play it looks so much worse. I have no idea if I need to change other parts of my pc to do this or what I should do but I can't seem to get games to play right. Any help or answers to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.Robert-Sapolski
Compare your system to their test system and go from there.
PS try and get the 6600gt 128. They tested it on Doom 3 back in the day. It rocks Roguetrp
Moving from a 6200 to a 6600gt?.... Ooooo... baby steps.
Irritates me to see people giving suggestions like this. Suggesting people move from one obselete card to a marginally less obselete card. That's like renting your computer. You pay constantly and get almost no bang for your buck. Really, if a person is going to upgrade something in their system, it should be a significant enough upgrade that it actually makes a lasting difference. A minimal upgradge, in my opinion, would be upgrading to a 7300 series card, a 7600 or a 7800 series. Heck, there is even a 7950GS (half of a 7950GX2) available for around $250 now, and I garrauntee a 7950GS would pay off long enough that in the long run, it would actually be a better deal than the many babysteps one would otherwise have to take in the meantime.
Personally, I don't worry too much about efficiency in upgrade expenses. I tend to fork out for the absolute best and upgrade about once every two years, though my last two upgrades have been close enough that I now have an 8800GTX OC and a slightly used 7950GX2 I'm wanting to get rid of... And just for those of you that try to make the 8800=Vista connection, NOT... Won't ever touch Vista, but I have my fingers crossed for XSOS.
