Ive just installed Vista, and the only thing that seems to have problems is my sound card. Vista says that no audio output is installed, and when i go into the control panel, then go to sound and search for drivers, it doesnt come up with any.

Im just wondering does anyone know how I could find out what sound card I have? When i go to Control Panel, and then into sound, it doesnt tell me. I bought my PC already built from Dell if that helps. i havent changed the Sound card since.

Dell can search for it after you enter a little bit of info.

Don't use the drivers that come with the card or from anywhere else. Uninstall whatever drivers you have on there, restart, and windows should prompt you to search for drivers (It'll recognize new hardware) when you restart. Follow what it says and let it do the leg-work. I couldn't get my XTremeGamer to work until I let Windows install the drivers, but once I did, it functioned beautifully. Hope that helps.

I tried letting Windows do all the work. It searchs for the drivers, but after a 5 minute search, it comes up with nothing.

And i went onto the Dell website, and typed in my service tag, and they had no drivers to offer for Audio in my PC:?

Is there a website that can scan your PC letting you know what sound card you have? Ive tried google, but cant seem to find any working ones.

Yeah. Knowing the exact sound card will make finding the drivers an easy process.

I'm guessing it's an onboard device.. What model dell do you have?
