Help with the perfect space game.

I was looking for a game that involves space traveling with a space ship, using hyperspace engines, fighting in space with your space ship, just like Stargate series or Star trek if you may.

Can anybody help me with this please ???

Freelancer is my #1 too. Perfect blend of combat and aquiring dosh.

X3 is good, but slow to start and retardedly incomprehensible at first.

EVE is a subscription based MMO and the combat is really dull, but if you're looking for an economics based game you might want to check it out.

Freespace 2 is good, but it's aged a lot.

Evochron Mercenary has great combat and lets you go down to planet surfaces, though there isn't much to do there.

Sin of Solar Empire is a fun RTS games that has a lot of spaceship battles and space travel. EVE is another great suggestion.

How much combat is there in X3 games? I didn't see much fighting in the screenshots, but the game looks very good...superclocked

You can get into lots of combat in X3 if you want, including fighting destroyers and stuff. You can even buy your own destroyers! (I have 3 so far!)

Im a big fan of the genre myself and I would recommend X3: Terran Conflict or X3: Albion Prelude. Also keep an eye out for a game called Infinity: The Quest for Earth it looks incredible! There is apparently Elite IV being made too. :)

Freelancer is also a good game as people have said. Im not sure how/if it would run on newer operating systems though. We could really do with a Freelancer 2.

X3 is great. But again, I have to warn you that there is a huge learning curve. There are a billion commands and menus within menus, and it's not as bad as it first seems, but still you have to prepare yourself!

Freelancer or the freespace games. Mods make them look new.

Also, there is a new star wars mod for freelancer called Freeworlds: Tides of War coming for freelancer this year, and will probably be the closest thing to a real star wars game that we've gotten in the past 5 years.

It's not really about flying in space, despite your ship being your main asset this side of a character chart.

It's more about being a space jerk to real people.
