Well after playing the demo I thought it was pretty cool.. Possibly am planning to get it over Direct2Drive for $30.. Is it worth it? If so, there anything I should be afraid of about the Direct2Drive version of the game.. Due to the fact that this game is pretty uncommon in stores alot of times..

I really would like to play a game that I could just put alot of time into waiting for games such as Bioshock to be released.. And it seems that this game has the depth and replayability with randomization that I could keep busy with..

Another question, sense I have direct2drive, theoretically couldn't I download the game onto multiple comptuers for a lan game?

I like V, but still III was better. As for D2D, the version fo the game is no different than if you bought it retail. You just need to keep the information in case your drive crashes of you delete the files in some way so you can download it agian without buying it again.

I have only used D2D once and I am not sure of its controls to keep you from installing it on multiple systems. But why download it twice? Just copy it across the network.

Heroes V is ok, but the true heroes experience is in Heroes III.

This is one of my favourite games, I've played since the third version, and all the expansion I've played it. It's still my favourite.

For me it is WORTH IT!! A lot of people said some older version is better, but I don't think the same idea with them, I think they're all great! Mmm, probably Heroes IV is the weakest between all of its version, but its still good... And about Heroes V, you should play it! This game is pretty deep in story, the graphic, how they link the magic level and skill, and the units, I think this version is as good as the third, but with better graphic...

If you like the idea RPG combine with Strategy games, this game is a right choice...

I agree that Heroes 5 is worth buying especially if you liked the demo.

Basically the full game is just like the demo but there's more of it. And it gets better.

Have you ever played the previous Heroes games? They are all great, but V is a good one to start with.

It's a great game that should keep you busy for a long time. The factions are all different and interesting to play with. Heroes V is basically a remake of Heroes III with some tweaks which is fantastic in my book. It also incorporates some good ideas from Heroes IV.

As for the downloadable version, I can tell you that my friend had lots of problems with online play (my boxed version works perfectly). Ubisoft's customer service is a trainwreck.

I don't think I will be playing online, but only over lan.

Eh...it's ok. Nothing really wrong with the game, it's pretty much EXACTLY what the community wanted (remake of III). Graphics are solid, sound is good, not a whole lot of bugs (make sure you patch it up :P), and gameplay is exactly what you would expect. But that is kind of the problem...this is basically the exact game I have been playing for ages (I have played I-IV and am a fan of the series) with a visual upgrade. It might be worth it, but for me, I was bored with it within a week or two.

If you never played the previous games, I can imagine you would love this game and everything would be fresh. So if you enjoyed the demo, I say go for it.

Just curious but does the game check for your CD-key during lan? Most games I have seen only do it for internet games, they have never checked for lan games.. This is really the only form of multiplayer I am planning on taking because the internet community I have been told is like every other one that isn't the hot fix now a days.

Yeah I only vaguely played 4 I believe.

In my past experience and from what I have read, no downloaded games check for a CD key at all, even upon bootup. However, they only download part of the game when you actually *buy* it. The rest is downloaded and installed when you run the relativly small downloaded file. That is when your account is checked to see if you have already downloaded said game. How you get a second copy if your drive crashes or the game is deleted is beyond me. I am sure it is linked ot the confirmation code you will get in your email.

Well, I agree that HOMM III is the best of the series, but V is still good.

Only thing that frustrated me was the camera controls.
