Heroes of Newerth or League of Legends?

I'm interested in investing my time and money in one of these games but can't seem to decide which to get. Can anybody give me some solid, hopefully unbiased info about both? How do they handle the DotA model? What do they do wrong and what do they do right, and which game seems to have a stronger following or better hero balance? I need answers to questions like these and any other info you can recommend.

Play them both, since HoN is free till 9h of August and LoL is free anyway, see which you like more.

As a longtime Dota fan, I am loving Hon. Played the beta forever, and went straight into the retail. I love how they keep releasing changes and new heroes just like they did with Dota. And I think for the most part the community is pretty good. Havent played LOL yet so I cant comment there.

I have played 700+ games for each of them, LoL is a good starter for people new to the genre. HoN is for the more competetive. If you like cell shading than you will like LoL graphics(i find them annoying and ugly). HoN is balanced more, it doesnt seem like it in the beginning but once you learn the champs you realize it is. LoL has some very broken champions...plus tanks can tank and deal a god ammount of damage, they are quite broken. If you arent new to this genre go to LoL and roflstomp some noobs for fun.

Neither. I played those games and DotA is still much better than those. Plus DotA has a strong & active community. And it gets updated regularly; Also DotA 6.68c has just been released. :DNerubianWeaver
