I am planning on purchasing Bioshock Infinite (I may want to preorder so I'm not sure if I want the premium edition or not). Either way I have been a PS3 gamer exclusively for a long time and now I might be purchasing this game for my PC. I have a few questions in regards to PC play: if I order the PC version in disks will I, after loading the disks up and installing the game, have to have the disks in the disk drive for the game to run? Also if I instead download the game from steam, is the game "mine" as in I can play it anywhere offline, or is steam just licensing the game to me and I don't acutally own it? I know these questions are really simplisitic but its surprising how much you don't know if your not already PC gaming!

I recommend getting it on Steam since you will get Bioshock 1 for free, and you can play it on any machine you own down the road - as well as any other machine you own or have access to that meets the minimum specs. I am getting the disc version so I can get the collectable items, but I dread running the game from a disc. (It will be the only game on my machine that requires this archaic convention. And yes, you will own it in every relevant sense of the word.

I personally stay away form disk BUT most of the time they have to be activeated on a served like steam/origin so in my mind it makes no sence to get a box to take up space.

2: Steam is your friend

3 only use origin if you have to because i hate their layout

4: NEVER pre order unless you get a nice deal

websites

~http://www.greenmangaming.com/ ~ this one site is the best  IMO and most of their games is steam activeated Also i think they are giving out 2 games if you pre order bioshock

~ amazon is also a nice place. They have a $30 game credit that can be used on ANY 2k game

~ i dislike steam pre order system. They relie on levels of amount of people to get to the top...

it's kinda licensing the game to you. Steam has a offline mode (IDK much about it) but for somegames you have make sure you tell steam go in offline mode to do something to your games. I hear you have reconnect to online after X amount of days. Like i said i really havn't exsperience to much with the offline mode. Well there was one time where my internet went out and i played a game without issue.

Thank you guys for the responses! I think there is no limit to how long you can use a game offline in steam from what I've read, so hopefully thats all good (but you have to log in at least once with steam activated so the game can actually run). Also greenmangaming is AMAZING! Two free games along with $15 cash back and Bioshock Infinite for preordering. THANK YOU for showing me that site!
