ok...uh...last year around christmas time, i was coming up with a ideas for a rig i could build that could run crysis on high (i don't really want to play it much, but I'm just using it as a bench mark)

Anyway, it came out to be a little more then 1k. which was too damn much. anyway, i was wondering, if i built the computer i was planning on building last year, today, would it be worth it?

i mean, it would probably cost a lot less now, but is it worth buying parts that are a year old now? would i be able to play future games easily for at least 3 years (granted i might have to lower some settings as time goes on)?

this is what i came up with last year, what would you guys recommend today (keep it mind i want to go considerably under 1k. ie 700-800, not 999)

Video Card: EVGA 512-P3-N802-A1 GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

Not bad, 2gb ram would be sufficient, 4gb even better. I would also probably go a little bit higher with the video card if you wanna really max out settings.

Depends how much you want to spend but in an ideal situation you'd have a gtx 260/280 or hd4850/4870, or you could get a 9800gtx+. Those are some of the best cards and if you want them to last into the future that's what I'd choose. If you want the 8000 series go with an 8800gts

HDD try WD 640gb around $80... 9800gtx is good for under $200, but if ye can afford try GTX260 216 for $250-300...

Seagate is supposedly more reliable. Go dual-core (e8400) since your budget is a bit tight.
