i noticed the idle temperatures of my gpu have increased since i put my desktop resolution to 1280x1024 instead of 1024x768. Logically, this should be normal, but im wondering if its not just because of the dust that gets in my case since my case is open. Thanks in advance.

If you're running Vista, it might be because Vista's interface is Direct3D-rendered, unlike XP's GDI-based user interface, which had absolutely nothing to do with the GPU.
