I know I have them. If this game becomes the first WoW killer, my MMO life will be revitalized! I've been so burnt out from WoW, but have no other choice because no other community is as large or active.

Does anyone else have any interest or hopes for AoC? From what I've seen & read, it looks to be pretty cool. The only other question is: what about Warhammer Online?...

I dont need this to be a WoW killer. I just want it to be fun. I have mine preordered, after playing the PvP weekend, I was sold on it. We'll see how long this one keeps my attention.

Where do you need a community of 10 million? Age of Conan will definitely not be a WoW-killer, that doesn't mean it won't be good. Just because WoW is the most popular, it's not the only good MMO.

I remember SOE having a celebration when EverQuest first hit 250,000 players online all at once, and that was about five years into the game's lifecycle.

Anyone who thinks an MMO needs even one million subscribers to have a large community is deluded.

i see what you guys are saying - it's just that an online community is so central to an MMORPG as opposed to an RPG. as long as the community has a sense of presence, everything should be fine. but youre kind of guaranteed a sense of presence in wow, just because of the amount of people.

we'll see

I played beta, I don't think it's going to be as big as everyone hopes. There is nothing drastic about the game to keep faithful WoW'ers and EQ vets to stick around.

I shouldn't say this as it seems every-time I think of Funcom I have to... They made Anarchy Online, which was a total disaster for the first 6 months or so. It drove away half the community because of there poor programming. That said, we shall see.

Nothing can kill WoW.

1. Because its made by Blizzard, and when Blizzard creates something it is top class

2.it took many years of hard work and effort for WoW to become what it is.It is based on universe of games that are like 5 years of existance,so its almost flawless

But AoC will be nice...if Wrath of Lich King doesnt kill it

I played the beta weekend for a few hours and they were a painful few hours, I tried to play a couple different classes but I just couldn't force myself to do it. WoW is a very accessible game not only becasue of its gameplay and design but also because (and especially now) it is very system friendly. My pc specs are in my sig and i was lagging on medium during the beta (could have been from the server) but either way the majority of gamers coudln't run AoC on a higher lvl setting.

In regards to warhammer, its the same as WoW has a foundation already built by previous pc games and has a large following with its table top games and lore. It will be more accessible to the general public's computers .... still can't commment on gameplay. But out of the two AoC will probably find a nice little niche following 100 - 200k players 6 months to a year after launch which is more than enough to make it enjoyable for the players. Warhammer could be in the same position however I wouldn't be surprised if it is able to obtain a higher number of subs 500k or greater.

I just hope that AoC has something new to offer, besides the gore, that's not like anything seen in an MMO. I pretty much just stopped playing MMOs, they got too boring, I just can't get into WoW, EQ, or Guild Wars. The only MMO that ever did anything for me was CoH, but none of my friends played so I stopped.
