high speed deus ex question

When i downloaded the deus ex demo a few months ago, i had this problem where everything would go at a faster than normal speed (e.g. : dialogs, character animation, run speed, etc). I was wondering if i buy the game on steam, do you think i will still have this problem? And does any one know how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

i don't think the full game will have the same problem - the demo may be bugged

It's probably because you have a dual-core system.

When running the game press CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Task Manager, find the game listed (DeusEx.exe) right click on it and then click Set Affinity. In the dialogue box that comes up, turn off one of the cores to be used by the game, close Task Manager and go back to the game. This should work for other games as well that seem to run faster than they should.

Alternatively, download a program like WinLauncherXP which allows you to adjust programs/games to use one or two cores.

Which type of dual-core? Because I have an Athlon 64x2 4200 (like the OP) and I also experience problems with some games running faster than they should, even after installing the AMD Dual-core Optimizer which was supposed to fix the problem.

This was a problem specific to the earlier AMD dual-cores that AFAIK didn't affect Intel dual-cores.

i had this prob with my laptop. the game would run like the flippin clappers and everything would move way too fast. the lappy had an amd 64 3000+ and a mobility radeon 9600. if i remember correctly the following fixed it. it sounds daft but did the trick for me

first uninstall the game if u have installed it.

then go to ure power settings and make sure its set to PC Home (or something like that).

then reinstall the game.

when u play it make sure the computer is on PC Home first.

basically i think the game has a probalem when a processor changes its speed. this is common in laptops to save power. thats how i fixed it (found the solution using google.) basically if anything is changing the speed of ure processor based on workload then make it stop.

also do get it. its the best game ever made in the history of gaming ever imho.

Same here no problems. Look at my sig for my specs.

I've had problems with lots of games with my dual core running at too high of a speed...I'm just saying deus ex is not one of them,

I got an amd athlon 64 x2 dual core 3800
