hey people

iv been looking for a Historic Real Time Strategy Game for ages now that has a good balance between city building/development, warfare and diplomacy.

iv played knights of honour and really enjoyed the level of warfare but would like some more depth in the city building and diplomacy side.

i was looking at the game, dawn of discovery/anno 1404, which looks really good in all apart from the warfare side of things which looks hugely dissapointing but i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to any other good ones.

thanks

Rise of Nations is what you want. It has the depth of Civilization and one of the best warfare systems available.

Get the gold edition, because the expansion adds a lot of things.

A Total War game is the best you'll get in terms of historic battles and empire management, but the empire management part is turn based. 1404 is great for everything but combat, like you said. Rise of Nations is a great fast-paced Age-of-Empires-style game, but focused more on quick build-up and warfare, with no diplomacy and little city-building (think AoE or Starcraft). Oh, and Stronghold Crusader is an oldie-but-goodie!
