So I absolutely love the Hitman series I've played and beat all of 'em, and when they announced Absolution I was ecstatic. But since then I've seen Gameplay footage and some Dev interviews and I'm not to happy with what they're doing to the game. To me its as if they made a Hitman Skin for Splinter Cell Conviction. Both are great games but Hitman was something different and its own thing. Some I'm kind of worried at how the gameplay will turn out. Although at think the main synopsis of the plot is solid and can be made into a great story. Opinions?

i share your concern. sad thing for peoples who like these games is that the majority of gamers seem to want one-man-army/run-and-gun style action, even if it means that many game series are starting to look more and more alike.

I think they're gonna go heavy on the story this time insted of gameplay. I think I read somewhere where they said that they want to make it like a Hollywood movie or something. I'll still buy Hitman - Absolution because I love Hitman serie :)

I really don't care what they add/remove from this game over the previous ones. All I want, is that they DONT follow in the steps of the movie. I love the series, I HATED that movie. I was so embarassed for 47 when the movie ended and I started the game. I went on a killing rampage with a knife to sate my lust for vengeance but that only goes so far. Either way I WILL be buying this game, no matter the amount of crap I hear from others.

lol more for the story. they should be using the same awesome actor, but they aren't. if it's anything like splinter crap conviction - the worst of the series - I will not buy it. Silent Assassin and then Blood Money are the best.

I'm actually incredibly concerned. I mean, removing David Bateson just plain sucks, especially when he was willing to work on it. It also doesn't help that the game offers less freedom (devs words), and that the instinct thing takes away the challenge and kind of lets you be a psychic to cheese your way to a kill.

To be frank, only thing I'm a little iffy on is the "Instincts" feature that lets you see through walls like in Batman: Arkham Asylum/City. Besides that, and from the interviews I've read, they seem to have polished on the "action" choice. Many play Hitman differently, some like to sneak around and simply take down the targets silently, others like to take down the targets with a little more direct approach by using a disguise and killing them while in the same room and otehrs just like to draw their guns and gun down everybody that gets in their way. The last mentioned part has been challenging to nearly impossible in the previous games and it seems they want to make it a little easier to be loud and reckless. That said, I'm waiting on passing my judgment until I've played it and formed my own opinion about it then when I have hands on impressions.

Whether the game changes much or not I still think it is going to be very enjoyable.

You can turn off the instinct mode if you want more challenge. But hey, it's not as weird as seeing all moving people in maps in previous Hitman. The gameplay I seen is definitely linear but it's the first mission, like Blood money, it's also linear. It's definitely not gonna going to be the same formula as previous Hitman, but sticking to the same one will get it stale or cod-ish. Maybe they can pull of a linear-if it is-game well, who knows.
