I'm resting idle at 55 degrees, and it shoots up to almost 80 degrees in Crysis. I havn't even overclocked the thing yet and I'm guessing I shouldn't even bother with those temps...

Is this really the temps this card runs at or is something wrong with mine?

Then your other temps were just exceptional. 55-60 idle, 70-80 load is the usual GPU temperature range. So your GTX 280's temps aren't unusually high at all.

Yeah they run hot. They consume a lot of power, more than the HD4870. I would get a VGA cooler, or attach some more case fans that will help cool the graphics card.

I have the fan set to 90% on my gtx 260, and i idle at around 38C and under load at about 44-45C. Just increase the fan speed.

Thank god for antec 900's 4 stock fans. On stock fan speed I was like 65-70 idle and 85 gaming. Now setting it to 40% fan speed has me at like 50ish idle and 70 gaming.

Anyone know if there are any quieter better aftermarket coolers coming out or in dev for it? Besides water. Something similar to the accelero S1 would be epic :P

Hmm your load temp is fine but your idle temp does seem a bit high. The 200 series are supposed to power off most of the chip when idle, and only consume about 25w. Mine idle's at about 40-44C and loads at about 75-80C. Try manually setting the fan to 60-65%.

And I can't find that HR-03GTX anywhere in the UK :S. And the T-RAD doesn't work on GTX.

Yea, and watercooling sucks. I tried it with my Oldie, and the whole thing ended up heating up worse than the heatsink it was meant to replace. Not to mention the constant need to replace tubing, since they would get fogged up and clogged eventually, even with distilled water.

55C idle and 80C load is a lot hotter than mine. Mine idles around 40C and goes up to about 60C loaded by Crysis. The fan doesn't even move off the default 40%. Mine is the XFX XXX Edition (factory overclocked), sits in an Antec 900 case and the temps were taken from GPU-Z if it makes a difference.

I'd go Vapochill if I'd had the money, but that would only cover the CPU. Would still need to address the GPU's and motherboard chipset at least... RAM and MOSFETS too.

Water-cooling sucks? What did you use some $50 Koolance kit. While PROPER liquid cooling is not cheap, I can guarantee it will give great temperatures if done correctly.

Constantly replacing tubes, why? If you get quality tubing it will not get cloudy for years, by then you will need a new PC. But they would NEVER get clogged unless you did something way wrong, like not use anti-fungal additives.

Water-cooling is nice, but only if done right, don't waste the time if you are not going all out.

I used Asetek's $150 waterchill (well, was at the time). And yes, I had to constantly replace the tubing because they would get all sorts of crap built up on them; I used distilled water and water wetter additive to help, but all I ever got out of the thing was doubling the weight of the case, more than a few scares when I did have to bleed/fill the whole thing so often, and worse temps than the SLK-800A the CPU had on it prior to going with water. Watercooling blows goats.

Well there's your problem, you got some crappy kit. Kits suck at water cooling. Now if you would have gone out and done some research and picked out individual parts, you could have built a much better setup, would have cost more, but would have worked. I mean how big was the RAD, what brand was the tubing, what kind of additives did you use?

Sounds more like lack of research, and wrong decisions, not just water-cooling sucks. It might not be cost effective, but it does not blow goats.

Hey, **** you buddy. I did my research, and it was the best thing I could get outside of spending $1000 on kit at the time. The radiator was about as thick as two standard hard drives sitting on one another, and used some pretty thick tubing throughout, at least big enough for a really big 120mm(38mm thick) fan to suck air through it. The reservoir was tiny, but the pump kept water moving fast enough. Only kind of tubing I could get was what was available at Home Depot or Lowe's, and I got Water Wetter from AutoZone. At its best, it was about the same as the SLK-800A, cost a **** more money, and was almost as quiet as having the machine turned off. At worst, the thing was almost 20 degrees C hotter than the heatsink with a thermaltake LED fan.

Wow, easy there cowboy. Whats your problem, you buy a crappy water cooling kit and then just say water cooling blows. Tell that to someone with a 3x120 Thermochill radiator, a D5 pump, D-tek fuzion block, and some 5/8 masterkleer tubing, and they will laugh in your face.

You sound like a n00b talking about water cooling, LOL thats is the problem. Research, yeah, I can tell, LOL.

Grow up buddie. A thick radiator don't mean anything, tubing from Autozone, LOLOLOL, get some masterkleer. But from what I have heard here, that kit could have been excellent, and you were probably unable to install it proprerly:D

I don't know why I am wasting my time, you were the one constanly bashing Vista because your monitor would not run in the correct res with the DVI cable or something. And who hates ATI cause you had like one little problem once apon a time. You just have to complain about something it seems, and assbackward about it too I might add. Have a good day :)

Hmm... that should leave enough space for an X-Fi in between, right? If so, sounds like a winner to me. :)
