Ok, so my I'm wondering do even the cheepest home cinemas (the ones for like 50$) have a optical out. Also If they do will they work alright whit my PS3 if I plug it with opticl cable in the PS3.

The idea is to run sound on PS3 conected to a PC monitor.

It will vary by brand and model. Some HTIB (Home Theater In a Box) systems lack inputs entirely, so you'll need to check whether it has an optical input or not. That being said, I'm not aware of any $50 HTIB worth $50; you'll be happier in the long run living without and saving up for something that is - at the least - mediocre.

For $50 you can get a nice pair of headphones or at least an acceptable 2.1 system.

Good luck,

Boz

Home cinema for $50? Sure if you're happy with a 13" CRT TV, nokia in ear headphones, and a plastic chair to sit on :P

Don't even bother with those. Get a decent pair of bookshelfs and an amp (BEST FOR THE MONEY RIGHT HERE) instead of those cheap-o $50 ones.

Thats the problem. None of the cheap ones have an optical input. The speakers I linked would be much better. You have to use RCA (red and white audio cables) though.

Seconded: If you just need sound go with ChubbyGuy40's recommendation; ignore the 2.1 system I linked. Additionally, though, you're being a bit vague though. Do you only need a receiver for the optical input, are you looking for a receiver and speakers for a home theater setup, do you just need sound? The more you tell us, the better we can help you :) Happy gaming, Boz
