hey guys im wondering is there a way for me to hook up my PS2 to my PC and then play my PS2 through my PC? im not looking to capture footage of game play i just need it for research and will like to live stream with my project team members when playing the game so they can see as well.

what kind of hard ware will i need to buy to make this happen, if even possible.

thanks guys.

You'll still need a capture card of some sort even if you don't intend to record anything.

I think so, but you need one of these:

Get an easycap recorder: Get a s-video splitter but the quality may degrade a bit unless powered splitter. http://www.amazon.com/EasyCAP-DC60-Creator-Capture-High-quality/dp/B002H3BSCM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329926229&sr=8-1

Also I would not recommend playing on a monitor, get an old school crt tube and it will look much prettier... or a 480p LCD, I am using one atm, it's very good. Composite looks like crap, but s-video is great.

Also I'd recommend avoiding tv tuners they cause input lag

http://www.amazon.com/VideoSecu-Converter-Adapter-Switch-RCA2VGA/dp/B000V58F9M/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1329926476&sr=8-4

EDIT: I just realized you want it in a window of some sort, not sure how that will be done as most tv tuners cause input lag.

JigglyWiggly_

True. The best solution might be to connect the PS2 to both the capture device and a television. You can then stream the gameplay to your partners without having to experience the input lag.

If I am not mistaken, that is what most Let's Players do.

That's what I would do. Easycap is only 7$ though and it apparently works if you read the reviews, but have to configure it correctly.

Yeah, if you enjoy unreliable sound, unreliable graphics rendering, unreliable frame rate, and so on.

No emulator yet compares to the real thing.

thanks for the help guys illget the EasyCAP set up.

i tried using a PS2 emulator last night.

(*NOTICE TO MODS* i have purchase the games myself, this is perfectly legal for me to do because i own a copy of the game.)

and the frame rate is really bad. when i ran SOCOM 1, i can load up the the mission menu but when it tires to load the level up i just get a black screen, and Ace Combat 5 is really slow as heck, and Xeno Saga gets de-synic with the sound and what is going on in the scene as well as the frame rate drops really bad.

im using the pcxs ps2 emulator

You need a pretty decent system to run emulators well - what are your specs?

AFAIK emulators are not illegal, its the downloaded roms that are. So he should be able to play the original ps2 discs with an emulator?

It's legal as long as he has the console he intends to emulate and the games he intends to play

this is my system set up.

Phenmon II x4 955 @ 3.2GHz

8GB (4GBx2) DDR3 RAM 1600MHz

GTX 570 GPU (stock clocks)

and yes i do have a PS2 and i do have the games other wise i wouldnt be asking how to hook up my PS2 to my PC.

but i dont like using emulators becuase the games just crashes or suffers really bad frame rate.

i wonder if running the emulator from my HDD that was made into a UBS 3.0 external HDD has anything to do with it?

My friend has a lesser system and he is able to play his games (YES THAT HE OWNS) Just fine. the only problem is when you read the PS2 disks it dosnt work properly so you "need to copy your ps2 disk that you own" the your computer and play it as an ISO. this is legal to do in the US if you didnt know.

EDIT: not to mention usually you cant just load PCSX2 and have it work you need to tweak it for better performance. you can play a game that you own like socom 1 for example and be getting like 10FPS but after tweaking you will be getting 60FPS Steady. Also if you didnt know all PS2 games run at 60FPS.

Yeah. You basically have to download the rom/bios thing from your own PS2 and load it into the emulator. You also need to own the games.

And rips his own BIOS. I am sure plenty of people have done that lol. BTW GS doesn't care, no emulator discussion, but they haven't modded this thread so consider urselves luxy

Yeah so provided you get the the bios from the PS2 that you own and you have the games its 100% legal. and i know that GS dosnt really allow this talk because the game developers wouldnt probbly be very happy about it and 2 because most of the time people usually take the illegal route to get these things working and it would be to hard to keep track of all of the posts that pertain to illegal stuff.

If you ever plan on doing this for PS3 two things you want to keep in mind, the PS3 usesHDCP which chances are you wont be able to record or capture video with HDMI. So you will want to do it through composite or AV cables.

Dolphin is for gc/wii emulation. For fast wii emulation you'll want an i7 oc'd to about 4 ghz, this will run any game pretty much at full speed.

Dolphin is for gc/wii emulation. For fast wii emulation you'll want an i7 oc'd to about 4 ghz, this will run any game pretty much at full speed.

This is wrong on the dolphin emulator i can play GC and Wii games on my laptop thats 2.2GHz very playable. 2c/4t (intel) although i do use like SSE4 or was it SSSE4? i forget.
