Ok sooo Ive never had a PC for gaming but would like to build one. I have a monitor/keyboard/mouse already...everything else (case, OS, MB, VC, Ram, PS, etc etc...) I need. Obviously would like to keep it as cheap as possible but know Im going to have to spend some cash for a good one. Id like to keep it under $800 if possible...$900max but if you can save me that extra hundred bucks thatd be great So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and pretty please

If you're really set on saving a few extra bucks, look towards the AMD FX 6100 and a AM3+ MB - you might shave $60+ off the build, depending on the MB you pick up. Now, it's not quite as snappy as the 2500k, but it'll provide you with 6 cores and solid game play for the next few years.

I'd suggest spending the few extra bucks on the 2500k build, but I just wanted to let you know there is a slightly cheaper route to go for a PC that play games just about as good as the one suggested above.

Awesome...thanks for the suggestions and also thanks for linking them. Im hoping to be able to buy everything within the next week or so and build it as soon as I get everything. Saving the extra money isnt a must, was just going to use it to buy some games...but I suppose they can wait and Ill just focus on getting the PC built first:-)

everything is good. OP remember this build doesn't have an HDD in it but an SSD with alot less space. Its being recommended since HDD prices should sink within the year so hold off until then. Also the case is butt ugly, swap it for something else even if you have to spend an extra $20 to do so.

This hurts to look at, in fact I can't even see what you've written due to the blue/grey combo

At first I thought it was a blank page. Once I changed the background to see what was actually on it, I wished it was a blank page....

What the other posters recommended are excellent. Go AMD CPU if you can to save money. For gaming, it'll be fine. As for the PC case, get what YOU want. Make sure it's spacious with good cable management. Remember, you will be looking at it all the time so make sure it's to your liking. Don't get the ugly case just because it's cheap. Make sure there's enough room for everything you need now and possibly future upgrades. :)

If you have a Microcenter in a 50 mile radius i would suggest going there because they have a deal for an i5-2500k and a good mobo for ~$230. That would shave off a good amount, also if you need more hard drive space i would replace the ssd with a normal harddrive.
